24 square saltine crackers (unsalted) 1 cup butter or margarine 1 cup light brown sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 pkg. (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips Heat oven to 375. Grease a 9x13 pan. Arrange crackers right side up in a single layer in pan. Melt butter and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, boil for 3 minutes, stirring once or twice. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour over crackers, spread evenly. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and cool in pan on a wire rack for 7 or 8 minutes. If crackers have shifted, rearrange with a fork. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and spread evenly over the top. Cool completely. Cut into bars. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator.
