This tastes like the European fudge that has a picture of a cow on its wrapper. 1/4 cup butter

2 cups sugar

3 tablespoons of water

1 tin sweetened condensed milk (10 ounces) Put the sugar, butter and water into a large saucepan, preferably a non-stick saucepan.

Stir gently until the sugar is dissolved. Add the condensed milk and bring to the boil.

Simmer on a very low heat untill the mixture thickens and browns--this should take about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally during simmering.

Remove from heat, cool slightly and beat well.

Pour into a 9 x 9 x 2 inch greased tray. Wait until it is set and then cut into squares.

Makes approximately 36 squares.
