Dark Fruit Cake Recipe
3 cups flour 3/4 cup butter 1 1/2 cups sugar 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 cup currants 1 cup chopped figs 3 tablespoons molasses 2 teaspoons cinnamon and cloves 2 tablespoons chopped nuts 1 cup raisins 4 egg whites, beaten stiff pinch of salt
Cream butter and add the sugar gradually. Add the flour, baking powder and salt mixed together. Beat and mix well. Add the currants, chopped figs, chopped nuts, raisins, cinnamon, cloves and the molasses. Fold the beaten whites of egg lightly into the mixture. Bake in tube cake tin for 1 3/4 hours in slow oven.

4 c. flour 2 c. sugar 1 lb. butter 10 eggs 1 lb. raisins 1 lb. dates 1 lb. currants 1 c. apples, chopped 1 c. molasses 1 c. nuts
CANDIED FRUIT:
1/4 lb. citron 1/4 lb. lemon peel 1/4 lb. orange peel 1/2 lb. pineapple 1/2 lb. cherries 1 c. wine or grape juice 1 tbsp. soda stirred into- molasses 2 tbsp. mixed fruit cake- spices
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating constantly. Add flour and wine alternately. Add fruits that have been floured with 1 cup flour. Add molasses with soda. Add spices. Pour into 10 inch tube pan that has been greased and floured. Bake in a slow oven at 275 degrees for 3 1/2-4 hours.
