I've made this Kahula recipe for several years. It's easy and turns out great. I put it in decorative bottles and attach recipes for kahlua drinks.

1 qt. water
3 cups sugar
12 Tbl. spoons instant coffee (the darker the better)
Boil gently 45min or so.
Let cool and add
3 Tbl. spoons Vanilla
1 fifth of cheap vodka
Stir well.
For a while you will only smell the alcohol but after it sits for an hour or so you can smell the coffee coming through. You can go ahead and bottle it.
