Dawn!
I, too, grew up with these as a holiday staple. We used to get the chocolate mint wafers from the candy store in Sears! The Wilton wafers work fine. I'm surprised you found the mint flavored, as I've never seen these. In the future, if you don't find the mint ones, you can buy the regular chocolate ones then "flavor" them with peppermint extract. I get a large, airtight container and pour the wafers into it. I use a plastic medicine cup (that comes with liquid Tylenol, etc) and fill it half full with the extract then place it in the corner of the container (be careful not to spill any on the chocolate). Carefully seal it up, set where it won't be disturbed and let it "stew" a week or two. The chocolate will soak up the flavoring. This is how I've made them for the last 7 years or so now and I always get lots of compliments.
Good luck! Ginger
