CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST AT THE ASHERS BRUNCH CASSEROLE
It's a tradition in my husbands family to share a Christmas morning breakfast. It's prepared Christmas Eve in late afternoon and placed in the refrigerator overnight. On Christmas morning there's no precious time wasted preparing a wonderful breakfast, you just pop it in the oven.
5 slices bread, crusts removed and buttered on both sides 3/4 lb shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 lb raw bacon, diced 4 eggs, slightly beaten 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 2 cups milk
Lay the buttered bread in a 10x6-inch oblong baking dish. Cover with cheese, then bacon.
Combine the egg, mustard, and milk. Pour egg mixture over the bacon, cheese and bread layers. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Bake uncovered at 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. Check for doneness, knife should come out clean.
