BOHEMIAN KOLACHY OR SWEET ROLLS

2 cups milk, scalded
2 pkg. dry yeast
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 cup warm water
About 6 cups flour
Prune, apricot, or poppy seed filling

Cool milk to lukewarm.

Dissolve yeast in warm water as directed on package.

Cream sugar, shortening, eggs and salt. Mix together with yeast mixture and lukewarm milk. Add flour and knead a few minutes. Put in greased bowl and let rise, about 1 hour until double.

Divide in parts to work on floured board, roll to 1/4 inch. Cut with cookie cutter and place on greased cookie sheet. Grease top and sides with butter and let rise about 30 minutes.

Make a depression in center with fingers, pushing dough to sides and fill with prune, or poppy seed filling or apricot or etc.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 15-20 minutes. When brown, remove and grease sides with butter.
