Eureka!! We have it at last! This is an authentic recipe that we got from our local Thai resaurant people:

Step #1: You must purchase from a Thai or Asian food market a 1-lb bag labeled "Oliang Powder Mixed" (To Lena: What gives it it's special flavor is the mixture of 50% coffee, 25% corn, 20% soya bean, and the magic ingredient, 5% sesame seed.)

Step #2: Bring 1 gal of water to a boil in a large pot. Add entire bag of coffee. Boil 3 - 4 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step #3: Strain grounds, then add 3-1/2 cups granulated sugar to coffee (we use 1-gal sun tea jar). Stir until sugar is dissolved. Cool to room temperature; then pour into 1 gal. plastic milk jug (for ease of pouring). Refrigerate.

Step #4: To serve, fill glass with ice, then 3/4 full with coffee, and top off with milk or half and half (we prefer half & half), And there you have it!

Let us know how you like it.
