Most of the time, we refer to congee as porridge. I suppose when you all say
porridge you mean a dish of oatmeal or something like that right? There're
lots of different types of congee and there're many different types of
ingredients you can add into it. Just use your imagination and have some fun.
This recipe is for a healthy homemade congee. Adapt it to your liking or taste. CHicken porridge

50 g rice
1 chicken drumstick or chicken thigh
800 ml water or chicken / meat stock
salt to taste (about 1/4 tsp)
dash of pepper
green onions
a slice of ginger root (optional)
a dash of sesame oil (optional)

1. wash the rice. Put the rice, chicken, water and salt in a saucepan.
2. Boil gently until the chicken is cooked. Reomve the chicken and shred the
meat when cooled.
3. Continue to boil the rice until soft like congee.
4. To serve, put the shredded chicken and green onions on top.

It's great for a cold day. Hope you'll like it.
