This sounds SO unusual. Have you tried it? Maybe I'll get up the nerve to try making it one of these days. In Turkish restaurants, I've had candied pumpkin; that's delicious.

You probably didn't see it as you're in Canada, but in this past weekend's "USA Weekend" (national newspaper supplement), there was a recipe for chocolate pancakes served with... candied BEETS.
