Iraq Stuffed Dates: Tamar Mihshee Serves 8-12
1 pound whole dates, pitted 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts 3/4 cup half and half cream 2/3 cup sugar 1 tablespoon orange-flower water (mazahar) 4 tablespoons cocoa 1 cup shredded coconut, spread in a shallow dish
Slit dates along one side; then stuff with walnuts. Press closed and set aside. Place cream in a small pan and bring to boil. Add sugar and stir over medium heat until sugar melts. Add orange-flower water and cocoa and, stirring allow to cool.
Dip dates in the cocoa syrup; then roll them in coconut and place on a serving tray.
