ANISE COOKIES

COOKIES:
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup Crisco oil
2 tbsp. anise extract
1/2 tsp. salt
6 cups flour
6 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup milk

FROSTING:
Butter
Confectioners' sugar
Milk

Beat eggs; add sugar, oil, anise extract and salt. Add flour, baking powder and then add milk while mixing. Roll mixture into 1 inch balls. (Flour hands first as dough will be sticky.)

Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes or until bottom are lightly browned. When cool, frost.

Mix all frosting ingredients until consistency to dip cookies.

ANISE COOKIES

1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs, beaten
1 tbsp. anise flavoring
5 1/2 to 6 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder

Combine milk, oil, eggs, and anise; mix well. Add dry ingredients. Mix well with hands and shape as desired.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

S COOKIES

1 1/2 cups shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
6 eggs (large or extra large), beaten
Flavoring as preferred (anise oil, vanilla, or almond)
5 cups flour
4 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Beat together shortening, sugar, eggs, and flavoring. Combine dry ingredients and stir into shortening mixture until well combined. Add a little milk if necessary to make dough a cookie consistency.

Roll in long strips like a fat pretzel Shape cookies into S shape.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Frost with mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and touch of butter (make a paste consistency).

ANISE COOKIES

COOKIES:
3 beaten eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup oil, butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp. anise
6 tsp. baking powder
4 1/2 to 5 cups sifted flour

ICING:
1/2 lb. powdered sugar
Drops milk
1 tsp. vanilla or lemon
Food coloring, if desired
Sprinkles

Mix cookie ingredients together in order given adding flour so dough is slightly sticky. Shape into walnut sized balls.

Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees, until lightly golden brown. Cool.

Icing: Mix powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Icing should be thin and spreadable, but not runny. Add color. Spread on cooled cookies. Top with sprinkles.

ITALIAN COOKIES

1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
4 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. anise extract or oil
4 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients and roll or shape as desired.

Bake at 375 to 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
