Chocolate Lovers Caramel Squares Serving Size : 36
1 package semisweet chocolate chips -- any kind (I use Nestles) 2 tablespoons shortening 30 caramel candies -- Kraft preferred 2 tablespoons water 3 tablespoons butter 1 cup peanuts or walnuts
Melt chocolate chips and shortening over pan of hot water. Spread evenly on bottom of baking pan lined with aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator until firm; about 15 minutes. Melt caramels, butter, and water over hot water. Add nuts and spread over chocolate. Refrigerate until firm. Pour remaining chocolate over caramels. Let set for about 1 hour. Cut into 1" squares. Makes 36.
