Buelah's Fruit Cake from Sheryl,Ohio
Mix together: 4 C. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 salt 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg
Cream: 1 C. margarine 2 1/4 C. sugar 6 eggs 1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 1/2 lbs. walnuts 3/4 lb. candied cherries 3/4 lb. candied pineapple 1 lb. golden raisins
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Add fruits. This is very stiff. Put in loaf pans and bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour and 15 or 20 minutes. Take out of oven and brush with honey and top with cherries in shape of wreaths, put back into oven for 3-5 minutes.
This was a secret recipe for many years. Later this precious Mennonite lady decided to share it with her friends, one of them being me. It is delicious, especially if your not fond of regular fruit cake.
