Excellent BBQ Beans

If you like beans you will really love this recipe. Especially since it can be modified to suit your individual preferences and tastes.

For excellent BBQ beans collect as many types of canned beans as you like (Red, Pinto, Kidney, Garbanzo, Butter, Lima, etc.).

Canned Beans (5 or 6 different varieties)
Canned corn
Bacon
Pork Breakfast sausage or hot dogs (optional)
Onions
Tomato ketchup
BBQ sauce
Molasses
Stewed tomatoes
Salt/Pepper
Fennel seeds
Tabasco (optional)

In a big pot fry up some bacon slices cut into one inch pieces until half of the fat cooks out of them. Add chopped onion and fennel (to taste) seeds. The amount of onion is up to you. Fry until onion is tender. Add beans and corn, drain them first. Stir.

To this add tomato ketchup, your favorite BBQ sauce, Tabasco (optional), molasses (just a bit, easy does it), canned stewed tomatoes or puree, salt pepper to taste.

Simmer or bake till desired consistency.

To make the beans into a meal in itself add cooked pork sausage or slice hot dogs when you add the beans.

PS. I usually make my own sausage from ground pork, paprika, coriander, crushed red pepper, garlic, fennel seed, water, herbs, salt and pepper. Mix all together and let ferment 24hrs in the fridge before cooking.
