Holiday Brownies

Makes 5 dozen

1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup red/green holiday M&M candies
1/4 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup dry roasted peanuts (can substitute pecans or walnuts, depending on your preference)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 package fudge or double chocolate brownie mix

In a large bowl, combine the eight ingredients and mix. Obtain one cup of the mixture and set aside for the topping. Take the remaining mixture and firmly pat it into a 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan. Prepare brownie mix according to directions on the box. Spread the brownie mixture over the crust already in the pan. Sprinkle the reserved mixture over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the brownies comes out clean. Cool. Cut into square or triangle shaped bars.

These bars can be given with some homemade hot chocolate mixture as a nice gift. Cut the bars in triangle shapes and place in a gift tin or serving tray with a jar of homemade hot chocolate mix attached. Enjoy!
