Refrigerator Rolls
3 packages dry yeast 1/2 cup warm water 5 cups self-rising flour 1/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup solid shortening 2 cups warm buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. Sift together flour, sugar, and baking soda. Cut in shortening with a fork or pastry blender. Add yeast and buttermilk and mix in well. Pat out dough on a floured board and cut with a biscuit cutter or make into desired shapes. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees F. for 10 to 15 minutes. Remaining dough can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week.
