Make a fresh pot of coffee of your choice, sweeten it and add milk. Put it in a pitcher and refrigerate it for an hour or so.
In the meantime, add ice in your blender, enough to fill each cup you will be serving.
Pour the cooled coffee mixture into the blender (enough to come just to the top of the ice), add any syrup you might want (I like to add chocolate, sometimes caramel, sometimes a little liquor, or any of those fancy espresso syrups).
Start the blender off on a low speed and then build it up. Blend until it becomes thick and smooth, kind of like a fruit smoothie.
