Crockpot Stewed Chicken Source: rec.food.cooking/LeiG
1 (4 lb) stewing chicken, cleaned and cut up 4 celery stalks with leaves, cut up 4 cups water 1 small onion, sliced 2 sprigs parsley 1 bay leaf 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram, crushed 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
In crock pot combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 8 hrs. (I usually take off and hour to 1 1/2 hrs. I find it enough with my crockpot. You have to experiment, but better less than overcooked)
Remove chicken from cooker. Strain chicken broth and make gravy. . as soon as chicken is cool enough to handle remove meat from bones. Discard bones and skin. I serve this over noodles or couscous.
