Pink Poached Pears
Rec.food.cooking/Jessica Litman (1997)

Peel and quarter about 4 pears. Zest and then juice one blood orange. Combine pears, blood orange juice and blood orange zest in a 2 quart microwave-safe casserole, and microwave on high for 6 to 8 minutes (6 minutes if the pears are very ripe, 8 minutes if they're hardly ripe at all). Remove from microwave and allow the the pears to cool in the juice. You will have pink poached pears -- low fat, low calorie, pink and sweet all in one.
