A great side dish from childhood.
Gourmet Onions
5 medium onions, sliced 1/2 teaspoon msg (optional) 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup butter 1/2 cup cooking sherry 2 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Season onion slices with msg, sugar, pepper and salt. Saute in butter over medium/high heat until barely tender, about 5-8 minutes, stirring to separate rings. Add sherry and cook quickly, 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese and serve.
