Quiltmom's Best Ever Brownies rec.crafts.textiles.quilting/Quiltmom (Vivian) (2000)
This produces a very fudgy brownie :)
1 cup of butter (2 sticks or 1/2 lb) 4 oz (4 squares) of bakers unsweetened chocolate (orange box) 4 eggs 2 cups sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla 1 cup all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt
Heat oven to 350 degrees F, grease and flour 13x9-inch baking pan.
Melt butter and chocolate in microwave or double boiler.
Mix eggs and sugar together in large mixing bowl (I use a whisk and do by hand) stir in vanilla, gradually add melted chocolate/butter mixture and mix well. Add flour and salt, mixing just until combined.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool completely (or until you can't stand the wait any longer LOL). I prefer them warm with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream and cut into squares.
Serving size varies according to size you choose to cut :)
Note: this recipe can be halved and baked in either and 8 x 8 or 9 x 9 pan for same amount of time.
Also you can use margarine or shortening or a combination of both.
If you prefer a more cake like brownie add a little more flour.
