Nectarine & Sweet Basil Compote
1 qt water 3 c sugar 10-12 nectarines, pitted and cut in wedges 1/2 c opal and green basil leaves, juilienned
Cook water and sugar in medium saucepan and cook over med heat until liquid is clear. Add fruit, heat on high just to boil. Add basil. Cover and refrigerate immediately. Chill for about 3 hours.
