4 dozen

1/2 pound butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg, separated
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Preheat oven to 350F.

Cream together butter and brown sugar. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.

Stir together flour and salt. Add to butter mixture, mixing well.

Pat dough evenly in an ungreased 10 x 15" jellyroll pan.

Beat egg white slightly. Brush over dough. Mix together sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over dough. Sprinkle almonds on top of sugar.

Bake about 15 minutes, until lightly browned. Cut into diamonds while still warm. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
