Dried Snitz Pie (Dried Apple Pie)

Makes 1 (9-inch) pie

2 cups dried apples (snitz, in the PA Dutch vernacular)
1 1/2 cups warm water
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp powdered cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 (9-inch) unbaked double pie crust

soak apples in warm water and cook over low heat until soft. Drain into colander and press to remove excess water. Add sugar and spices. Put mixture into unbaked pie shell and cover with top crust. Seal at edges. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 375 and bake 35 minutes.
