(not 3 t.) ================================ smoked cheese and bacon straws make about 40 4 bacon rashers, finely chopped 2 sheets ready-rolled puff pastry 1 egg, lightly beaten 2 spring onions (scallion), chopped 1 T. chopped fresh parsley 1 t. paprika cook bacon in a med. pan, stirring until crisp; drain on absorbent paper. brush pastry sheets with a little egg, sprinkle quarter of the cheese over 1/2 of each sheet, leaving 1 cm border. sprinkle with combined bacon, onion, parsley, paprika and remaining cheese. Fold sheets in 1/2 to enclose filling, press lightly together, brush surface with a little more egg. cut crossways into 1cm strips, twist strips, place about 3 cm apart onto greased oven trays. bake in moderately hot oven (400F/200C) for about 12 minutes or until lightly browned; cool on wire racks. |
