French Fried Onions rec.food.recipes/Doreen Randal
These are delicious.
4 onions 1 cup plain flour 1 cup milk 1 egg 1/4 tsp salt oil for deep frying
Peel onions, slice very thinly, separate into rings. Put into bowl, let stand for one hour. Drain, reserve milk. Soaking in the milk makes the onions milder in flavour. Beat egg well and then beat in reserved milk, salt and flour. Dip each onion ring into batter, drop into deep hot oil, a few at time so heat doesn't decrease. Fry until golden. Drain well, sprinkle with salt.
