Deep Dish Taco Squares rec.food.cooking/Julie (sgig6566) (1996)
2 cups Bisquick (or other baking mix) 1/2 cup cold water 1 pound ground beef 3/4 cup green pepper, chopped 2 tbsp chopped onion 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce (I skip this and use 1 cup taco sauce) 1 (8 ounce) carton sour cream 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese 1/2 cup mayonnaise paprika
Combine baking mix and water, stir with fork until blended. Press mix into bottom of lightly greased 11X7 inch baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 minutes. Cook beef, green pepper and onion in skillet until meat is browned and veggies are tender; drain. Stir in tomato sauce (or taco sauce). Spoon this mixture over crust. Combine sour cream, cheese and mayonnaise; spoon over meat mixture. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting into squares.
