Soothing Creamy Rice From: Monday to Friday Cook Serves 4
1 cup long grain white rice 2 cups water or chicken broth 3/4 cup grated Parmesan or Cheddar cheese 10 ounces petite peas, thawed 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/8 teaspoon red pepper salt and pepper to taste
In a medium saucepan, combine rice and broth. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer, covered, 15 minutes. Add peas and cook 5 minutes more.
If serving to adults add Worcestershire sauce and red pepper. For the kids, leave these ingredients out.
Stir in cheese, cover, and heat over very low heat until cheese just melts. Correct seasonings with salt and pepper. Serve immediately. |
