Easy Pot Roast (crock pot) rec.food.cooking/Robbyn (1998)
In the morning, before you go to work, put a chuck roast in the bottom of your crock-pot. Cut up as many potatoes, carrots and onions as you want (enough for however many people you have to serve). Maybe some mushrooms on the top. Add a can of gravy (or a jar, whatever your prefer - or a can of V8 for a slightly different flavor) and set the pot to low.
Go to work.
When you come home, set the table. Ladle out the vegetables (separate the types if you like, or leave them all nestling companionably in a big bowl), fish out the beef and place on a platter. Thicken the liquid left in the crock (I always use cornstarch - use whatever works for you) and then put that into your gravy boat.
Sit down to a wonderful, moist, flavorful, and hearty dinner. This has always worked well for me and it couldn't be easier. I'd guess that leftovers would make wonderful sandwiches, but I've never had any leftovers, so it's just a guess. |
