Streusel Topping for Bakery-Style Muffins

Makes enough topping for 12 (2-inch) muffins

3 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp flour
1 1/2 tsp. shortening

Mix sugar and flour in small bowl. Cut in shortening, using pastry blender or fork, until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Mix muffin batter as directed. Distribute batter in muffin tins as directed. Sprinkle 1 1/2 tsp. crumb mixture over batter in each cup.
