Country-Style Apple Pie Source: The Detroit News, 1997 Servings: 6
1 package refrigerated pie crusts (15 oz.) 1/2 cup sugar 4 teaspoons cornstarch 2 teaspoons cinnamon 4 cups thinly sliced peeled apples 1 teaspoon sugar 2 tablespoons chopped pecans
Heat oven to 450 degrees. In medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon; mix well. Add apples; toss gently.
Place pie crust on large cookie sheet. Spoon apple mixture on center of crust to within 2 inches from edge. Fold unfilled sides of crusts over apple mixture; crimp slightly. Brush crust edge with water; sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar.
Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Sprinkle pecans over apple mixture. Bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes or until apples are tender.
