Fresh Pears in Wine rec.food.cooking/Karen Hayward (1991) Serves 6 Cooking time 4-6 hours Low
6 small fresh pears 1 cup dry white wine 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup water 1 tsp minced crystallized ginger 2 tbsp lemon juice
Peel pears leaving fruit whole, with stems intact. Place upright in Crock Pot.
Combine wine, sugar, water, ginger and lemon juice, pour over pears. Cover and cook on Low for 4-6 hrs or until pears are tender.
Chill and serve plain or with sour cream or whipped cream.
