1 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 c. waffle syrup (may use part molasses) 3 eggs 1 c. buttermilk 1 3/4 tsp. baking soda 3 tsp. ginger (seems like an awful lot, but that's what it says) 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. salt 3 c. flour
Cream shortening & sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add syrup, then milk with soda dissolved in it. Then add flour & spices. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
