Old Fashioned Vanilla Custard Ice Cream:
Serves 10-12

3 c.sweet milk
1 c.sugar
2 Tbls.flour or 1 Tbls.cornstarch
3 eggs,separated
1 tsp.vanilla
3 c.heavy cream

Mix cornstarch or flour to a thin smooth paste with a little of the milk.

Combine with 2 cups of the mllk & sugar & bring to a boil.Boil 3 minutes,stirring constantly or cook in the top of double boiler 20 minutes,add lightly beaten egg yolks slowly,cool,put through a stainer.

Stir in rest of milk,vanilla & beaten egg whites & add cream.Stir till well mixed.

Pout into a 2 quart ice cream freezer & freeze as per instructions.
