Cherry Nut Bread Yield: 1 loaf
2 1/2 cups flour 1 cup sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup shortening 12-14 chopped Maraschino cherries 3/4 cup chopped nuts 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 cup milk 1/4 cup Maraschino cherry juice
Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening, then add cherries and nuts.
Combine liquid ingredients, add liquid to dry ingredients. Stir only till flour is moistened.
Pour into a greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. |
