Orange Ice Cream (using juice) rec.food.cooking/Bill (1998)
I made this with DOLE Pineapple-Orange Banana juice. Boy, it sure is wonderful!!
1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup water 2 cups orange juice 2 cups half & half, very hot 2 egg yolks, beaten 2 cups heavy cream Combine the sugar and water in a pan and boil for 5 minutes. Stir in the orange juice and the hot light cream. Whisk in the egg yolks and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thick. Cool. Whip the cream and fold in. Freeze according to manufacturers directions.
