Liqueur-Flavored Homemade Ice Cream rec.food.cooking/Jan Byrd (1991)
I have made homemade ice cream with various liqueurs, my favorite being Bailey's Irish Cream. [The old "Udder Delight Ice Cream Shoppe" in Austin used to make Irish Cream, Creme de Menthe, and Kahlua ice creams, so I just experimented a few times.] We simply add 1 cup liqueur (for a gallon container) to your regular vanilla ice cream recipe and cut back that much on the milk (not the cream). It required no special freezing instructions.
The family favorite, which we named "Irish Toenails" for no particular reason, was actually a Cookies 'n' Cream (vanilla ice cream with oreo cookies) recipe with Irish Cream liqueur. Unbelievably scrumptious!. |
