Dreamsicle Cake
rec.food.recipes/Susan Martin (1999)

This tastes just like the orange Dreamsicle popsicles. I have made 8 of these cakes, and people just can't seem to get enough!!!!

1 pkg. white cake mix
orange flavoring or 1 small. pkg. orange Jello

12 oz. Cool Whip
16 oz. sour cream
1/2 Cup confectioner's sugar
1 sm. pkg. orange Jell-o

Prepare cake according to directions on package, add drops of orange flavoring or 1 small package of orange Jell-o. Bake in 2 (9-inch) pans.

When done, cool completely, then slice each layer in half to produce 4 round layers.

Meanwhile, blend together cool whip, sour cream, and confectioner's sugar in a large bowl. Place first layer on plate, cover with white whipped frosting; repeat with all other layers, making sure to use white frosting between layers except the top one.

Mix at least half of the orange Jello powder into remaining white frosting. (More if you want it really orange and tangy. Cover the top layer and sides with the orange frosting.

Chill or put in freezer for about 2 hours. Store in refrigerator.
