Nutmeg Cookie Logs
1 cup butter 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. rum flavoring 3/4 cup sugar 1 unbeaten egg 3 cups flour 1 tsp. nutmeg
Cream together butter, vanilla, and rum flavor. Gradually add sugar. Blend in egg. Add sifted flour and nutmeg gradually; mix thoroughly. Shape pieces of dough on lightly floured surface into logs of 1/2-inch diameter. Cut in 3-inch lengths. Bake on ungreased sheets 350 F 12-15 minutes.
Frosting 3 Tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. rum flavor 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar 2-3 Tbsp. cream or milk
Cream together butter, vanilla, and rum. Blend in sugar alternately with cream. Beat well.
Spread frosting on cooled cookies. Using the tines of a fork..drag fork across the frosting lengthwise to create a "tree bark" effect. |
