Southwest Spiced Walnuts Source: California Walnut Commission Yield: 2 cups
2 cups California walnuts 1 tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon sea salt 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon walnut oil Plunge walnuts into a pot of boiling water, turn off pot and let stand 2 minutes. Drain, spread on baking sheet and roast in 375º F oven for 10 minutes. Measure seasonings in a small bowl and stir to combine. Heat oil in a skillet. Add toasted nuts and toss 1 minute. Add seasoning and toss until nuts are coated. Cool on a paper towel.
