SESAME SEARED TUNA SALAD WITH GINGER-LIME VINAIGRETTE Posted by Chyrel Serves: 4
1 lb. fresh tuna (cylinder shaped, the thicker, the better) 2 oz. teriyaki glaze (store bought) 1 T. sesame seeds 1 tsp. coarse black pepper (freshly ground) 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. Asian Five Spice (optional)
Brush tuna with glaze, sprinkle on remaining ingredients in a very hot skillet, sear for 15 seconds on each side. Place in freezer for 30 minutes. (easier to slice) Slice in 16 (1 oz.) medallions.
Dressing 2 oz. olive oil 1 oz. sesame oil 2 oz. rice wine vinegar 1 T. minced ginger 1/4 C. chopped cilantro 2 oz. teriyaki glaze 1 lime (juice of) 1 oz. honey Salt and pepper (to taste)
Substitute; your favorite vinaigrette, add the teriyaki and ginger. In mixing bowl, combine all, refrigerate. Plating: In mixing bowl, combine your favorite lettuce mix and vegetables with dressing. Place in salad bowl and lightly toss. Place in serving bowls and arrange to your liking! Optional garnishes: are crispy Won Tons or Chow Mein, chopped peanuts, sliced scallions, pickled ginger, get creative!
