Fragrant Yellow Rice rec.food.recipes/Mary F (1995)
1 cup basmati rice 1 1/2 cups water 1 teaspoon salt (optional) 1/2 teaspoon tumeric 1 stick cinnamon 3 whole cloves 3 cardamom pods
Wash rice 5 or 6 times and drain. Mix all of the ingredients in a microwave safe dish, with a cover.
Microwave on high for 5 minutes, then microwave on half power for 15 minutes. Let sit for 5 minutes, fluff with a fork. (Since microwave wattage varies, cooking time may require adjusting.)
If using a stove top: bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
