Basic Lemonade
1/2 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice 1/4 cup superfine sugar 2 cups cold water, spring water preferred Ice cubes (2 or 3 per glass)
Combine lemon juice and sugar. Stir until sugar has dissolved. Add cold water and stir again. Pour over ice in tall glasses. Serve with a straw, if desired. Makes 21/2 cups.
Per (1/2-cup) serving: 29 calories, .09 gram protein, 8 grams carbohydrates, .1 gram total fiber, no fat, no cholesterol, .30 milligram sodium.
Superfine sugar is available in the liquor drink mix aisle of the supermarket as well as liquor and specialty food stores.
