Beef and Turkey Meat Loaf

Sauce:
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Meat Loaf:
1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound ground turkey
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cups quick rolled oats
1 can zesty tomato soup
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons dried onions
2 egg whites
1/2 cup chopped parsley

Combine the tomato sauce and barbecue sauce in a sauce pan and simmer, uncovered, for about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Combine meat, garlic powder, pepper, allspice, Worcestershire sauce, oats, tomato soup, chili sauce, sour cream, onions, egg whites, and parsley. Mix well and form into a 8x4x3 inch loaf. Place loaf in greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with heavy foil. Chill for 1 hour and then allow to come back to room temperature.

Bake at 350 degrees F. for 1 hour. Drain juice from pan.

Pour the sauce over the top of the meat loaf and bake uncovered for an additional 1/2 hour or until the meat loaf is a dark brown. Turn off the oven and allow the meat loaf to stand in the oven with the door open for 10 minutes. This meat loaf recipe will serve 8.
