Audrey's Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 lb butter, room temperature 2 cups brown sugar 1 1/2 cups sugar 3 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 3 to 4 cups chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts 6 cups flour 1 1/2 Tbsp baking powder 1 tsp salt (optional)
Cream butter and sugars, until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating until incorporated.
Add vanilla. At this point, I add the chips and nuts, because it's too hard later! Stir in chips and nuts, mixing well.
In a big bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt (I leave out the salt in the recipe, just because I prefer it that way). Add to the butter mixture a cup at a time, mix thoroughly. Put golf ball size scoops of dough onto an ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 400 F. for 8-12 minutes until lightly browned.
Makes: About 5-6 dozen cookies Source: Audrey k. Ishizaki, 1985
