Butterscotch Candy
1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup butter or margarine 2 tsp vinegar few grains salt 1/2 tsp vanilla
Combine all ingredients except vanilla.
Cover and cook until mixture begins to boil (watch closely). Boil without stirring to soft crack stage (275 - 280 F).
Add flavoring. Do not stir. Pour quickly into well-buttered pan. The candy should be in a thin sheet.
Cool slightly and mark in squares.
