Banana Pops
4 ripe bananas, peeled 8 wooden Popsicle sticks 1 (6-ounce) package (1 cup) Semisweet chocolate morsels, Milk chocolate morsels or Butterscotch morsels 1 Tablespoon vegetable shortening Chopped nuts, optional Shredded coconut, optional
Cut bananas in half crosswise. Insert wooden stick in end of each and freeze.
Melt morsels over hot (not boiling) water; stir in shortening. Coat each banana half with chocolate or butterscotch mixture; roll immediately in nuts or coconut, if desired.
Wrap each pop in aluminum foil or put in freezer bags and store in freezer.
Makes 8 pops.
