HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE BREAD CRUMBS OR CROUTONS

I prefer Italian style bread, but you can use even plain loaf bread to make your own delicious bread crumbs or croutons.

Take bread and lay it out in a single layer, let it sit out several hours or overnight turning over once.

Melt butter and brush both sides of bread with melted butter. If desired this is the time to add seasonings. I like to take a dry package of Italian seasoning and add it to 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese, (don't use fresh though, it will burn.)

Other suggestions could be salt and pepper, garlic salt, parsley, rosemary, you decide what sounds good to you!!

Cut into crouton sized pieces for croutons or leave whole for bread crumbs.

Bake in 200 degree oven until hard and crusty.

For bread crumbs break into pieces and whirl in food processor until crumbs form.

Store in airtight containers or freezer.
