Loose Meat Sandwiches Rhe real deal, Minnesota/Wisconsin style!
Buy a 2 lb. flank steak OR brisket. Place fatty side up in a crock pot.
Sprinkle 1 pkg. Lipton Onion Soup on top.
Add 5 mashed or chopped garlic cloves.
Add water until meat is almost covered.
Cover & cook on high for 7 hours.
Shred meat with a fork and serve with a small amount of broth on a big onion bun. Can also be shredded & mixed up with barbeque sauce.
I've been serving this to my guys for years, they LOVE it. This is a dish you'll oftentimes see at potlucks in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
I also use leftovers to make beef stroganoff. I reserve the broth, cube whatever beef is left over, throw in a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup (no additional water), and a cup of sour cream, and mix up with 1/2 box of Mini Lasagna or Egg Dumpling noodles. Noodles should be cooked au dente per package directions. This gets better as it sits!
